New publication available !

The EFUS and its partners are happy to announce the publication of the final report of the two-year project "Innovative strategies for the Prevention of Re-offending". The document provides a methodology and examples of how to implement an effective local policy aimed at preventing reoffending, and also a series of recommendations and principles.

Improving public confidence in the police

A recent study by the Home Office in the United Kingdom, establishes the pertinence of community policing to increase public confidence in the police.

The study looks at elements in the existing scientific literature and local practices and classifies the interventions in three categories: what works, what looks promising and the potentials obstacles.

Partnership with UN-Habitat

The EFUS has a long-standing relationship with UN-Habitat, the UN agency dedicated to urban issues, and more specifically its Safer Cities program. We have recently formalized our partnership in a protocol of collaboration and hope to develop an increasing number of projects together.

The EFUS will be present at the World Urban Forum 5, “The right to the city, bridging the urban divide” to be held in Rio from March 22nd to 26th -- let us know if you plan to attend!

Mercedes Bresso, President of the Committe of the Regions

Mercedes Bresso, former President of Piedmont (Italy), has been elected President of the Committee of the Regions, on February 2010. She is the first Female President of this institution.

Microcredits Programme for Inmates is an innovative example of a strategy successful for preventing recidivism. This project was conduced by the Foundation for Justice, a non profit organisation, in Valencia, Spain. This practice is full of resources and solutions to prevent recidivism through socio-economic reintegration of inmates.
