Rotterdam conference declares
"A Charter for the Democratic Use of Video Surveillance”
Providing citizens with guaranties regarding the use of CCTV in European cities, that is the purpose of the “Charter for the Democratic Use of Video Surveillance” declared Friday 28th 2010 in Rotterdam at the final conference of the project “Citizens, cities and video-surveillance”. The Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb followed by the president of the French Forum for Urban Security and Senator-Mayor of Saint-Herblain, Charles Gautier, were the first to sign and to commit their cities to the seven principals of the charter.

Presentation of the project to create a “European Executive Master in Urban Security” - Toulouse, September 28th 2010
Developing the blueprints for a European training offer in Urban Security offer at Master level, that was the mission of the EU-sponsored project “Towards a European Master in Urban Safety”
On September 28th, the project partners would like to present their ideas for this blended learning offer and the e-learning platform which will serve as its backbone.
Universities and higher education institutions are invited to exchange on possible co-operations to the implementation of the “EEMUS” programme.
Interested universities can register on this online form until July 23rd 2010.

The "Apéro Facebook" events in France
In the last few weeks, in France, a new phenomenon has emerged, the so-called "Apéro Facebook". These events are organised casually through the Facebook social network, and, gathering more than 10 000 people, pose risks both to the participants and local populations.

FOPPSU's General Assembly
The Portuguese Forum organized on June, 29th 2010 its General Assembly in São João da Madeira. During this event, the city of Loures was elected as President of the FOPPSU. Members decided to focus on the role of local police and the relationship between security forces and the government
