Join the European Forum for Urban Safety now!The members of the European Forum for Urban Safety (EFUS) share and compare their experiences and expertise. In this way, any member can benefit from decision-making tools such as local-scale technical assistance related to community safety, safety audits or transfer of knowledge organised by the European Forum. Conditions for particular requests are tailored to your specific needs. EFUS members benefit from the following services:- Access to a vast network of knowledge, experts, contacts and experiences - Links to more than 300 cities across Europe and assistance in contacting them - Design of tailor-made training, consulting and technical assistance on safety issues for your local authority - Automatic receipt of all the Forum’s publications[1] and information newsletters - Invitations to our conferences, seminars and training programmes - Participation in inter-city cooperation and exchange programmes co-financed by the European Commission - Access to the members-only section of the website which contains urban security practices in Europe Note: Associate members are not allowed to vote during our internal elections (voting rights are reserved for the elected representatives of cities and towns). What are the conditions for joining the network?- A local coalition for urban safety must be in existence, or there must be a commitment to create such a coalition within the next few months. - Initiated by elected representatives, the coalition must bring together representatives of the public, private and voluntary sectors. - Provision must be made for technical coordination of the coalition. The presence of a local coordinator, responsible for the implementation of the coalition’s activities and working side by side with all the partners, is essential. - Local safety policies must be built into an overall policy of social development. - The necessary conditions must exist for an active participation of citizens in developing and implementing safety policies. - The Respect for human rights in the implementation of safety. Such policies must not result in greater exclusion, nor in an increase of inequality nor of a feeling of injustice.
