Welcome...

...to the website of the project "Citizens, Cities and Video-Surveillance" of the European Forum for Urban Security.

The project "Citizens, Cities and Video-Surveillance" is about reflecting on and exchanging practices of video-surveillance which operate with respect for fundamental rights. It is about ideas for CCTV solutions that are efficient and fit previously identified needs but which are also open to citizens and respect their privacy.

With the support of the "Fundamental rights and citizenship programme" of the European Commission/DG, Justice, Freedom and Security, ten members of the Forum are working together with European experts on the question of the use of CCTV and the respect of fundamental rights.

After one year of field visits and exchanging practices, the project partners has proposed a Charter for the democratic use of video-surveillance in European cities.
